Mi chiamo Monica Romano, sono una consigliera comunale a Milano per il Partito Democratico. Attivista di lungo corso e scrittrice, mi occupo di diritti civili fin dalla fine degli anni ’90. Da sempre affianco a questo impegno quello per i diritti delle lavoratrici e dei lavoratori, per la giustizia sociale, per i diritti delle persone LGBTQIA+, per le pari opportunità e per una società più inclusiva, attenta ai diritti di tutte e tutti.
Nel corso degli anni ho maturato un’esperienza significativa anche come consulente e formatrice nei campi del diversity management e della gender equality, collaborando con enti pubblici e aziende per promuovere ambienti di lavoro equi e rispettosi delle differenze.

Sono Vicepresidente della Commissione Speciale contro i discorsi d’odio e Vicepresidente della Commissione Pari Opportunità e Diritti Civili del Comune di Milano. Questi ruoli mi consentono di portare avanti con competenza e visione un impegno per i diritti civili e sociali radicato nella mia esperienza pluridecennale come militante, scrittrice e professionista.
Sono anche componente della Direzione Nazionale del PD e co-responsabile del Dipartimento Lavoro del PD di Milano. Ho pubblicato quattro libri sui diritti civili e sull’inclusione sociale e ho oltre 20 anni di esperienza nel campo dei diritti.

My name is Monica Romano, and I serve as a City Council Member in Milan for the Democratic Party. A long-time activist and writer, I have been engaged in civil rights advocacy since the late 1990s. Alongside this commitment, I have always worked for the rights of workers, for social justice, for LGBTQIA+ equality, for gender equality, and for a more inclusive society that protects the rights and dignity of everyone.

Over the years, I have gained significant experience as a consultant and trainer in the fields of diversity management and gender equality, collaborating with public institutions and private companies to promote fair and inclusive workplaces that respect differences.

I am Vice Chair of the Special Committee against Hate Speech and Vice Chair of the Equal Opportunities and Civil Rights Committee of the City of Milan. These roles allow me to pursue, with competence and vision, a commitment to civil and social rights rooted in my decades-long experience as an activist, writer and professional.

I am also a member of the National Directorate of the Democratic Party and co-director of the Labour Department of the Democratic Party in Milan. I have published four books on civil rights and social inclusion and have more than 20 years of experience in the field of human rights advocacy.
